Mrs. Hill's Classroom Update

Please check out the Resources tab on this site. Scroll to the bottom and you will find a list of online resources. Today is "Reading knocks our socks off!" Wear your craziest socks and send a picture to [email protected] or [email protected]. They will be posted on the school website.
Language Arts:
Students are beginning to learn about sound and light in our Unique Learning Systems unit. Our ULS stories this month are What Does Paris Hear? and Grumpy Mr. G. Students rotate daily through a group lesson, centers and one on one instruction for IEP and Extended Content Standards instruction.
March Sight Words:not, black, at, her, will, his, morning, next, room, white, early, hear
Fine Motor:
Students worked a variety of hand skills including: bilateral hand coordination, fasteners, using scissors and writing. Students practice making pre-writing strokes and writing each day. For our last unit on Maps, students cut, pasted and colored to create where they are on the map by sequencing cups.
Speech Group:
Our Matt & Molly lesson this month have been: Catch that Rabbit, Soup for Molly, and Wake up Molly which is our lesson this week. Sounds and blends of focus were: /r/, /l/ and /w/
Math Groups:
Students have learned how to use five and ten frames, counting on, and about subitizing. They continue to build on their ability to compare sets using math vocabulary (more, less, greater than, less than, equal) Students have also begun learning how to label and describe shapes using lines, number of angles and vertices. Each day students rotate through group, centers and one on one instruction for IEP and Extended Content Standards instruction.
Science & Social Studies Activities:
Students have learned about observing change in objects, states of matter (solids, liquids and gases) and weather conditions.

3/18 - We are ALL readers day! - wear clothes reflective of your culture

3/20 - Book character dress up - Classroom Staff plan to dress up like the Incredibles. If you would like your child to join us have then wear black pants and a red shirt!
